On February 28th, 2020 the students of SKTCS presented our First Annual Black History Month Assembly.
To prepare their presentations, students learned about the contributions that people of the African diaspora have made to American culture. Prominent figures such as Martin Luther King Jr., Harriet Tubman, Wilma Rudolph, Ruby Bridges, Mae C. Jemison, Kobe Bryant, and our namesake Susie King Taylor were among those featured. Classes also learned about African American pioneers that were influential in the Westward Expansion, such as Nat Love, and Bill Pickett.
